[JUST IN]: PDP Chieftain Knocks Oluremi Tinubu Over ‘US Airstrike’ Comments

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jaffar Bello, has criticised Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, over remarks attributed to her concerning American airstrikes in Northern Nigeria.

Top Naija reports that the controversy followed comments allegedly made during a visit to Washington, D.C., where the First Lady reportedly praised United States airstrikes carried out in December 2025. In an interview with Fox News, she was quoted as describing the intervention as a “welcome development” while expressing hope for deeper cooperation between Nigeria and the United States on intelligence sharing and counter-terrorism operations.

Reacting during an appearance on Trust TV on Friday, Bello faulted the remarks, arguing that the First Lady allegedly called for further strikes in the North while not making similar comments about insecurity challenges in the Southeast linked to agitation by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

He also questioned the broader implications of foreign military actions, citing past United States interventions in different regions over the past two decades.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the Presidency addressing Bello’s criticisms.
